Fuel injection hex pump drive only 39225-00001Fuel injection hex pump drive cam adapter 39225-00008 --- Crank support --- The front of the crankshaft on a supercharged engine takes a lot of strain from the pull of the belt turning the supercharger. On some applications it takes up to 800 horsepower to just turn the blower at full boost. The front of the crankshaft was never designed to take this type of side load and because of this side load it will cause the crankshaft to fail prematurely at the radii on the front of the first rod journal. On a supercharged engine it is not if the crank will fail it is when. If you back fire the engine for some reason and nothing happens except you just break the belt ask yourself what amount of energy did it take to break this belt and how did this energy manifest itself in the crankshaft. The belt broke because the engine kept turning when the supercharger stopped (or wanted to stop) because of a spike of excessive pressure in the manifold (from the backfire). What did it do to the front of the unsupported crankshaft ? What you did not realise is that although you do not see the damage you probably just cracked the crankshaft on the number one rod journal. Though it will still run (probably) the crankshaft just had over half of its normal life eliminated.. Now what did that cost ? A KLRC crank support will usually double the life of a crankshaft making the KLRC crank support on of the best investments you can make. If you crankshaft costs $2000.00 (or more) and lasts 40 runs before it cracks beyond safe use and you can get 70 or 80 runs with a KLRC crank support then the KLRC crank support should be worth $2000.00.(or more) JUST THE FIRST TIME THAT YOU USE IT. The KLRC crank support attaches to the lower four bolt holes in the front of the engine block with studs. The crank support side plates slide on the studs and the front bearing plate goes on after the side plates. The crank spindle attaches to the centre of the crankshaft and the bearing that rides in the front bearing plates goes on the end of the spindle. The KLRC crank support has adjustment built into the design to allow for differences in crank tunnel bore but once the adjustment is set you can disassemble and reassemble the engine with out having to readjust the crank support. The KLRC crank support comes black anodised with a complete set of instructions to install the kit correctly. If you have a desire for a colour other than black anodised please ask when you order. Ford small block roller chain set After fitting the timing chain set to the engine check the amount of sideways movement (left to right) at one side of the chain only. Use the following chart to calculate the correct timing chain set. 1/4" side play = .002" - .004" The chart above shows the amount of oversize you need to order to obtain the optimum chain installation. This is checked you putting a straight edge rule from one pulley to the next outside the chain and pressing the chain with a ruler. If you did this and got 3/8" deflection a +.006 chain set would be called for. A standard part number begins with CS. When ordering a tunnel bore set replace the CS with TB and add the oversize to the part number. Example: CS8289-351W is a timing chain set for a small block Ford Windsor. (Fuel Pump Magneto Drive) ![]() Fuel Pump Magneto Drive (FPMD) fits Mallory Supermag magnetos and MSD magnetos. Using the FPMD it makes room on the top of the engine for large superchargers as well as room to locate the supercharger where it can make the most power. On some sedans it moves the mag out where you can get to it instead of being stuck up next to the firewall. An additional benefit is that it allows engine maintenance to be done with out removal of the mag thereby eliminating the necessary to reset the timing each time. This can be the most benefit on a between the rounds "thrash". Since the FPMD is cam driven it can be used on any type of engine making it more saleable later. Ford Tools --------------------------------89800-00825 System One oil filter wrench This wrench wraps around the filter case and grabs a fin to help spin the entire filter case off the filter mounting. Using this wrench instead of a screwdriver will protect the fins from breaking off the filter case. 89810-00891 Wrist pin checking tool (check for straightness) dni dial The single biggest cause of rod bearing failure after an engine has been over revved or stressed is bent rod bolts. When you over rev the engine the big end of the rod goes out of round for a moment and when if does causes the rod bolts to bend. The aluminium rod wants to return to shape but the rod bolts being steel want to hold their new shape and are bent holding the rod out of round. When the rod is out of round due to a over rev the sides of the rod big end are held in and out of round by the strong steel rod bolts this reduces or eliminates the normal bearing clearance. This lack of clearance will cause bearing failure resulting in a burnt bearing and eventually a hole in the pan and block. Usually this failure is falsely attributed to oil, the oil pump, the bearing or the rod bolts breaking. If the bearing is burnt the rod bolts did not break first though they may have caused the problem. The destroyed parts are no longer available to check and the true cause is never found. Check your rod bolts and eliminate problems. An easy to check the rod bolt to see if it is bent is to use the KLRC rod bolt checker. Stop the rocks from going down the pipes when the engine is off and the car is being towed. If your opponent can not hear you coming then he may try to save his dial in and get off the throttle early and you nip him at the finish. If you don't the sticky tires will pick up rocks and throw them down the exhaust and the rocks will go into the engine. The 351 Cleveland is nearly the worst engine for this problem. Only the SBC is worse due to the angle of the exhaust port mounting. Cooling systems components --------- Electric Water Pump ![]() The KLRC 12 volt water pump is a powerful light weight turbine type pump that pumps enough water to cool any drag race car. We use this water pump on our 500 cubic inch modified dragster and drive the car all over the track because we do not need the tow car to help keep the engine cool. The pump is quiet and draws very little amperage which saves the battery The pump weights less than a pound. DYO racing is about consistency. One of the items that you must keep consistent is the engine temperature.
