Steering box mounting (FC/A & FED)

Funny cars / altereds and front engine dragsters all have very similar steering mounting components. KLRC has designed the brackets necessary to optimize the steering installation in your race car. Funny cars can use a altered steering mounting but that means the "tin" inside the body has to have a hump built in it to clear the steering. This hump makes the tin weak and often the hump will crack and break. On the FC we run the pitman arm shaft under the chassis rail to clear the tin. This makes it a little more work to remove the steering to remove the transmission but it is worth it in the long run. An altered has no such problem and as such we run the pittman arm shaft over the chassis rail like a front engine dragster. On front engine dragsters the top chassis rail is at a smaller angle coming fron the engine plate and as such requires yet another set of mounts. All cars use the billet aluminum worm and sector steering box part number 23825-03000 show above.
