See below for scoop mounting trays, tray mounting hardware and throttle control hardware. The Speed scoop is the scoop that racers bolt on and go quicker. One of the success stories is Warren Sichter. He has a carburetored 500 cubic inch A/MD and has raced his car for over a year with the "standard" pro stock type scoop. One night after several runs with his old scoop, one of them his best run, ever he put the Speed scoop on and set a new personal best by running his quickest and fastest he had ever gone.Another success story is Peter Zelow. He has stack type fuel injection on his rear engine A/MD dragster. Peter had his fuel system flowed at LFS and ran his best numbers ever going as quick as 8.58. At one race he duplicated his best number in qualifying and put a Speed scoop on his car with no other changes. On the very next run he ran 8.42 ! He richened the fuel system some and went on to run three 8.34's in a row, much improving the performance and making the car more consistent than it had been before. This is a massive two tenths plus performance improvement. All the performance improvements were attributed to the scoop since as soon as he removed the scoop the car returned to its old performance level. Why does the Speed scoop work so well ? It is designed to get the air for the engine from undisturbed non turbulent air. The car passing through the air causes turbulence. The twisting and swirling air cannot possibly be uniform and this lack of uniformity can cause tuning problems. This scoop "grabs" the air for the engine above the turbulence and provides a positive pressure inside the scoop to give a slight supercharged effect. It is drilled for the throttle cable quick release clamp to bolt to. This tray mount eliminates the need for the ugly and weak straps used to mount some scoop trays with. The tray mount is designed to clear all the parts of the carburetor that a racer will need to get to for tuning and maintaining the fuel system on the race car. Use the internal threaded hex spacers between the scoop tray and the tray mount. Tray mount made from 6mm aluminum plate CNC machined for a perfect fit and best appearance. The 4150 series carburetors have a rectangular mounting pattern and center hung float bows. They range in size from 600 cfm to 950 cfm. The 4150 uses the standard tray mounting plate The PRO series carburetors have a 4150 mounting bolt pattern and bore centers but have the larger 4500 series float bowls and metering blocks. The PRO series use the large tray mounting but has the 4150 mounting bolt pattern and throttle bore centers. The 4500 series carburetors are called Dominators and have a square mounting pattern and center hung float bowls. The range in cfm size from 750, 950, 1050, 1150. The Dominators use the large tray mounting like the PRO series but has the Dominator mounting bolt pattern and throttle bore centers.

Now what does this mean to the consumer? Most fiberglass manufacturers use a chopper gun to spray the mat and resin into the mould. This is a very fast way to make a product but it adds a lot of resin to the final product. Your race car body. Excess resin does not make the product any stronger, only heavier. We don't build spas, swimming pools or boats so to us a light strong product is important. By hand laying the mat and rolling the excess resin out you can get the correct amount of resin to mat ratio therefore not adding any excess weight to the finished product. Hand laying over triples the amount of time to lay up a part dramatically increasing the cost but making a much better race car product. At Raceglass we spray the gel coating into the mould ensuring a smooth uniform coating of gel coat for easier finishing for paint preparation. Not everyone will spray the gel coat- some will just brush it on making thin spots with the brush marks. This is why spraying the gel coat is a much better way of applying the gel coat. Usually just a light sand will prepare the surface for a professional paint job. Some cheap fiberglass products do not come with a gel coat finish and the mat will start to show through your new expensive paint job before too long. You do want a gel coat finish if you want your paint to last. If you want to save $100.00 on a cheap body but spend $400.00 more on paint supplies and an extra 50 hours on body prep go ahead. Saving $100.00 on a cheap body won't save you any money. A plug is the original shape that the mould is made from. All of our plugs are finished very straight and smooth. This allows us to use them for high quality carbon and Kevlar lay ups. Some fiberglass manufacturers don't use high quality moulds because they figure why spend the extra time making a high quality plug when the customer can just bog it up to finish off the product. We build race cars and the less bog you have the less weight you have. Why add bog to a product when the product should have been smade correctly in the first place? If you are going to use your moulds to make a carbon or Kevlar part the mould has to be in very good condition and shape. After we spend many hours making the plug correctly we make a mould off the plug using a tooling product. Once the mould is separated from the plug it is sanded to a 2000 grit finish and then power polished. After polishing, the mould is waxed 6 times. We use wax as a release agent as it makes a smoother surface finish and a better product. We won't be the cheapest price bodies but they will cost you less in the end and you will have a better product. I'd rather explain the price than apologize for the quality.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please email me for prices on the Fiat body ken@kenlowe.com.au See XA price list for chassis to suit this body.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ![]() ![]() 1923 Ford Roadster race car body High side windscreen molded in.
