Wayne

A Modified Altered
& B/Altered
KLRC car number 68
HOME

Wayne's new car is a 125" wheelbase altered. It is designed to fit
Wayne comfortably and be able to use a range of engines with off the shelf mount changes.
Come back soon and see more photos as the car progresses.
Although we have had progress in the last few weeks on Wayne's car, the
reporting has been a little slack. We have been swamped with work leading up to the
Winternationals and car work does come before the reporting work.

This photo was taken after the Winternationals. Because of the rain we had a lot of clean
up work to do to dry everything out. The aluminum side panels are not on the car here as
we had just finished rubbing the car down. I still have a bit of body work to do before
the body is done. Then I am going to take a mould off of this body for the rest of our
cars. Here the sides of the windscreen are still high and uncut. After the body is done
and the mould done the windscreen will be cut to the finished height.
We decided to go with the "radiator" style of fuel tank to keep
the "hot rod" look of the 23T. One option not taken by this customer is the nose
piece for the front to cover the front chassis rails.
The original plan was to race the car as a DYO car in Modified but Col has
changed his mind and purchased the Pro Stock engine out of Col Shores car and will race
the car in Competition Eliminator now. We did build the car with a staggered front so he
does maintain that advantage in Comp.

Note the 23T radiator shaped fuel tank.

This is the view most of Wayne's competitors will see.

Rear view of car. Note the moulded in parachute pack mount. If dual chutes are needed we
suggest using a 1/8" (3mm) aluminum plate the size of two parachutes and bolting that
to where the single chute is mounted.

Battery and MSD mount tray under the turtle deck. Turtle deck mounts with domed dzus
fastners click here and the body mounts with the 1" od chromemoly tube with the open
tops welded to the back of the diff uprights. The body has 7/8" tubes welded to a
plate that is glassed to the inside of the back of the body. Two dzus fastners hold the
body to the lip that goes over the top of the engine plate.

View of mounting hardware before the cover panel is glassed in to hide it.
